The Story:
--- The DC Department of Transportation is considering regulations to create valet parking staging zones where restaurant, nightclub etc. customers could pick up or drop off their vehicles. Spaces will be leased for about $2,400 per year or $200 bucks per month.
View from the Bubble:
--- Stepping up DC parking services certainly could help DC restaurants attract suburban diners.
--- But 200 bucks a month for prime parking seems pretty cheap to us.

Wow. So does that mean that if I own a business in DC, I can buy up a whole block of parking spaces for less money than what a local garage would charge?
The staging areas aren't parking spaces, they are simple "drop off/ pick up" areas for the valets to operate out of. Currently the restaurants (etc) are just laying claim to parking spaces/drop off zones/whatever and using those as staging areas without payin the District anything for them. The revenue from these staging areas should be sufficient in the aggregate to cover the additional administrative costs being incurred by the District to administer this program. I haven't a clue as to whether the $200/ staging area gets us there. Hopefully someone with DDOT does ...
Is it time for another 9-month hiatus?

Is this blog dead?
Kinda makes sense, since the Bubble is clearly bursting.
Is Bubblemeter's name Phil by any chance?
I would like to, if possible, pay for a link in your real estate links section. Something like Connecticut Waterfront Property I would like to know what you would charge me for one year. I don’t expect to get any clicks or to take any business away from you. I only want to improve my page ranking in Connecticut. Would you please let me know either way. My email is ickyb397 -at- yahoo com.

I rent alley spaces out in Adams Morgan for $250/mo, so $200 for a downtown restaurant is a joke. The average selling price of a Dupont alley parking space is $60,000-$75,000 - fund that at 30 years at 6.5% and you're paying more than $200/mo. I think it is only fair that they pay for space that they are, er, taking off the streets. Of course, if they are only open evenings, then $200 may be fair.
I want to share this great news with you guys. I found a site that submit your list to top classified sites like google, trulia, vast and more all at once by making only one ads to them.

$200 seems cheep but you have to look at it from the revenue the city will be making back by, like you said "attracting people from the suburbs"
keep in mind people who live in the city drive too, and valet would really encourage people to explore more options.
Many parking garages are also closed during the weekends, but a valet service would be able to utilize those spaces as well!

Have you ever thought about buying a second home in a foreign country? Most of us have spent a few minutes online drooling over some of these properties. However, most of us quickly let the dream fade away when we realize how complicated and risky this venture can be.
The hardest part about buying property abroad is that every country, state, and city has different rules and conventions. So to be smart about it we usually start by researching foreign ownership restrictions, tax ramifications, currency issues, etc. This can be very time consuming, costly, and may even lead to out dated and incorrect answers. Along with this, doubt usually sets in; what if the property is over priced and I’m the only idiot in the world who doesn’t know it?
The best way to purchase real estate in foreign places is to contact a trustworthy, local, real estate professional. A local real estate agent will be familiar with the market value of properties in the area you are searching, and they understand the local laws. Your next question is probably; how do I find a trustworthy local real estate agent?
There is a website called UniFersal.com,
http://www.unifersal.com/index.php . You can find properties, look at property pictures, and even chat, call, or message a pre-screened, local real estate professional who speaks your language and specializes in the particular city you are searching in.
UniFersal.com does a background check on all of the real estate professionals that would love to help you buy real estate in their city. They confirm the professional’s real estate expertise in that city, and even ask for references.
If you are serious about buying a property in a foreign country, don’t try to do it alone. Use the internet to drool over properties, then get serious and contact a local professional.

Seems like this blog is dead, as i see no updates.
I think this is a terrible idea. It seems like the city is trying a 'get rich quick scheme' at the citizen's cost. DC has some of the worst parking in the nation and allowing the rich to buy up spaces will only set to limit parking for the average citizen.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

thats crazy. In myrtle beach the locals went crazy when they started putting up parking metors in the busy areas of town
The bubble has burst and let out the helium. Maybe now we can get it together again and start a normal market one day.
$200 does seem pretty cheap. Also, does this really make since at this price to tie up a parking spot for a paying customer? What if the person with the spot only parks there once a month. It kind of defeats the purpose.
Is this blog dead? I really liked reading these postings. I'm the used engines guy. Yes, I work on engines religiously.
I always looked forward to reading the next new stuff and now after working on my cars, I come home with nothing to do.

True! This is great news for locals! I know of a certain website which promotes a real estate company in the US. This company deals with buying and selling of property. The company has a turnkey property management system which is second to none, and consistently manages each investor assets to its optimal economic performance. The company’s system is based on ethics and accountability.
Sounds like a good idea. Stayed at the Mayflower last year and never took the car out of the garage because i knew that I would spend too much time looking for parking
